ANALYSIS

When proteins have been generated and purified it is essential to know that they have the correct structure and are active. Other additives that can be used to provide soluble proteins, such as arginine and detergents, typically interfere with the protein structure and / or inhibit assays, which makes working with proteins more difficult, time consuming and costly.

NVoy technology is compatible with numerous common analytical techniques for ascertaining protein structure, activity and concentration.

For example:

  • Circular Dichroism
  • Mass Spectrometry
  • NMR
  • Light Scattering
  • Immunoassays (fluorescent and colourimetric)
  • Cell proliferation assays
  • UV Absorbtion
  • Bradford Assay (See Bradford Ultra)

HTS and Diagnostics

Proteins are often used at low concentrations during analysis and this often causes problems with non-specific binding and high assay background. Several methods are used to try to alleviate this problem including the use of detergents and carrier proteins but each method has its drawbacks, particularly when protein concentrations are low. NVoy can replace common blocking agents and carriers, their association with the protein lowering protein losses and decreasing background / non-specific binding thus improving assay sensitivity. Since aggregation is prevented and the proteins are stabilised, assay performance can be improved as can the shelf-life for routine storage and shipment of proteins.
