Streptavidin–RPE

Expedeon’s Streptavidin–RPE (R-Phycoerythrin) conjugates are manufactured using our Lightning-Link® antibody labeling technology, to provide extremely high quality, stable conjugates.

For added flexibility we have provided the conjugates in two different pack sizes of 100ug and 1mg. Furthermore, the conjugates are freeze dried for shipping at ambient temperature.

Additional information

Streptavidin is purified from the bacterium Streptomyces avidinii. It is a tetrameric protein with a molecular weight of approximately 53kDa. Each of the four identical subunits will bind one biotin molecule with a very high degree of specificity and affinity (Kd = 10-15M).

R-Phycoerythrin (R-PE) is a 240kDa phycobiliprotein isolated from red algae. R-PE has a bright red to orange fluorescence with a high quantum yield, which is brighter than other conventional fluophores and phycobiliproteins. The absorbance spectrum of R-PE covers a range of excitation wavelengths, which provides an advantage for multi color immunofluorescent staining or cell sorting. The emission maximum of R-PE is 575nm. R-PE is used for fluorescence based detection, often in assays which require high sensitivity.

The conjugate was compared with Streptavidin–R-PE conjugate produced with Expedeon’ Lightning-Link® conjugation technology in an ELISA as shown. It can be seen that the Expedeon’s Streptavidin–R-PE conjugate is superior compared with the competitor.
